Reality hit me…

Career Day at school for Homecoming week.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Daughter – A Princess

Son – I Don’t know

Both logical answers.  I swayed my daughter from being a Princess, because in my head, Princess is a title and not a career.

I swayed her to be a Baker Princess and my son a Baker.

We were baking Banana Bread…….. so perfect……..   an Apron and spoon and we are good.

Later in the week my son, said he wanted to be a builder, like Bob the Builder.  I said OK, you can take your tools and I will get you a nail apron.

I got 1 nail apron.

After seeing the apron, guess what my daughter wanted to become?

A “worker builder” (Her words not mine) too .

“Can you use your baker’s apron and put tools in it?” I asked..  The “umm No” look was obvious to her answer.

As it was the last day to make up our minds, there was no way to get one from the store.

The kids continued to play that evening and my daughter found the stethoscope and blood pressure cuff.

“Mom, I want to be a Doctor.”

Ok perfect….. such a great idea… that guess what…. that my son wanted to be the same…. Thank goodness for duplicates..

So low and behold we were Doctors today for Career Day.

But after thinking about things for a moment and talking it through with another mom..  Reality hit me….She could be a career Princess… .  I mean how would Disney Land and Disney World function, if they didn’t have career Princesses. 🙂 🙂 🙂

So in the future..  We may just have a Princess and an “I don’t know”.  And that is A-OK for today!
